OUR VISION

The Massachusetts Friends of Libraries, Inc., founded in January 1992 as a non-profit organization, is committed to serving all of the state's libraries. The organization proposes "to create a network for sharing information, to help in forming and nurturing Friends of Library groups, and to boost the image and services of our libraries." Also, MFOL has pledged to cooperate with all the appropriate national, state and regional organizations in pursuit of the best possible library/information services for all patrons.

BOARD ORGANIZATION

MFOL is governed by a thirteen member Board of Directors, at least nine of whom are members of existing Friends of Library groups, each representing different libraries and library regions. The Board is elected yearly in November. To see a list of the members of this year's Board of Directors, click here. We work to create a network to provide information and technical assistance to local Friends groups.

INFORMATION SHARING

As a member of the MFOL you will receive our quarterly published Newsletter as well as an annual Directory of members. With the newsletter & the regular updates to this website, you will always be informed about news and upcoming events of the MFOL. FUTURE GROWTH

Much has been accomplished in the last several years. We are proud to tell you that the fundraisers, workshops, and other events of the last years have been successful. Looking forward, the Massachusetts Friends of Libraries seeks to expand its membership, not only to public library groups but also to the Friends of school, academic and special libraries that join the six new multitype regional systems. MFOL will continue to grow as a key team player in state-wide library advocacy. If you are a member of a library-supporting organization in Massachusetts, and would like to help sponsor us, or are even just an active user of your local library, please click here to get information about membership in the MFOL. We need your support to make your local library better, and better, and still better...
